The Houston Astros have a stacked farm system. All of those years finishing in last place with 100+ losses are starting to pay dividends. The following 3 players have a lot of upside potential, reasonable card prices and a path to the major leagues(one of them was recently promoted).
- Alex Bregman is Houston’s 1st round pick from the 2015 draft. This year at age 22, he’s more than held his own in AA with a .975 OPS. His non-graded base auto found in the 2016 Bowman Chrome set have been selling in the $100-$120 area with BGS 9.5 versions selling in the $200 area. - A.J. Reed is Houston’s 2nd round pick from the 2014 draft. Last year, as a 22 year old, he dominated high A and AA with a combined 1.044 OPS. This year in 59 games at AAA, Reed posted a .854 OPS and was recently promoted to the major league club. - Derek Fisher is Houston’s supplemental 1st round pick in the 2014 draft. This year as a 22 year old in AA Corpus Christi, he’s posted a .895 OPS. His 2014 Bowman Chrome non-graded base auto can be found for as little as $10!!!!!!!!, with BGS 9.5 versions selling in the $30-$50 range.
